cyPollock — Catalogue Computational Textile Design
A study in generative gesture

cyPollock

A cybernetic Pollock — scattered recursive branches, drawn in any direction, seed-documented, and ready for textile production.

For fashion houses, textile studios and surface designers. Each composition is generated from a single numeric seed and can be licensed, adapted or commissioned to your brief.

A gesture, when it is computed rather than performed, becomes a field — turbulent, calm, quietly yours.

I am an Iranian-born artist working at the intersection of classical ornament and generative systems. My work begins with a simple observation: the gestural mark — irregular, energetic, endlessly variable — has always carried the trace of a body in motion. From the brushstrokes of the Abstract Expressionists to the woven patterns of tribal rugs, the loose scattered mark is one of the oldest forms of expression we have.

cyPollock is a seed-based generative system that translates that gesture into code. Each composition is built from a set of recursive branches, scattered freely across the frame — every branch grows in any direction, every branch forks on its own schedule, every branch carries its own colour from a palette of sixty-eight tones.

Where Celestial Grove grows a quiet grove from the ground up, cyPollock scatters its branches in every direction — a cybernetic Pollock, dripped from a point into a field. The palette, the branch count, and the background are all derived from a single numeric seed.

On AI tools — where I encountered technical obstacles, I turned to AI tools for debugging and code optimization. Every structural, aesthetic, and conceptual decision remained my own.

Scattered,
not just traced.

02 / Surfaces

One composition.
Many surfaces.

The same seed, presented as an archival print — and applied across fabric, scarf, textile and wall surfaces without loss of structure.

Applied across surfaces.

Every surface below is drawn from the same numeric seed — its repeat, orientation and scale adapted to the material, while the underlying structural logic remains identical.

behind the field.

01 / Seed

Variation

A numeric seed initializes palette, background, branch count, and the growth angles of every recursive branch. Each composition is regenerated and documented as a distinct, traceable output.

02 / Gesture

Geometry

Each branch grows recursively from a random anchor in the frame, rotating freely through a full circle at every step. Some fork, some continue, some terminate — a visual vocabulary of gesture rather than structure.

03 / Surface

Application

The resulting composition becomes a surface-design asset — explored across garments, textile prints, wallpaper and other pattern-driven applications.

One system.
Many surfaces.

cyPollock is a generative design system rather than a single artwork. Its scattered, gestural visual language can be adapted for fashion, textile development and other surface-oriented contexts — while maintaining a computational origin.
