A numeric seed initializes the grid dimensions (5–105), the step lengths, the starting cell, the gradient mode, and the maximum path length. Each output is regenerated and documented as a distinct, traceable work.
A path of a knight across a chessboard — traced in gradient circles, drifting from shadow to light.
For fashion houses, textile studios and surface designers. Each composition is generated from a numeric seed and can be licensed, adapted or commissioned to your brief.
A knight moves in an L — and every L is a jump that cannot be reversed.
I am an Iranian-born artist working at the intersection of classical textile logic and generative systems. My work begins with a simple observation: the woven surface — repetitive, mathematically structured, infinitely variable — has always been a form of computation, long before computers.
Nebula Knight begins from the knight's tour — a path in which a chess knight visits every cell of a grid once, moving in its characteristic L-shaped leaps. Here, that path is stochastic: the knight chooses among valid moves at random, seeded so the resulting path is deterministic and reproducible.
The path is drawn as a series of rings — one per visited cell — each sized by the seeded step lengths and tinted by a gradient that runs from dark to light across the tour. What emerges is a nebula: a drifting cloud of circles, dense and open at once, held together by the logic of the knight's leap.
The same seed, presented as an archival print — and applied across fabric, scarf, textile and wall surfaces without loss of structure.
Every surface below is drawn from the same numeric seed — its repeat, orientation and scale adapted to the material, while the underlying structural logic remains identical.
A numeric seed initializes the grid dimensions (5–105), the step lengths, the starting cell, the gradient mode, and the maximum path length. Each output is regenerated and documented as a distinct, traceable work.
A knight moves in L-shaped leaps, choosing among valid moves at random until it can no longer proceed. The resulting path is drawn as a series of circles, each tinted by a gradient that runs from shadow to light.
The resulting composition becomes a surface-design asset — explored across garments, textile prints, wallpaper and other pattern-driven applications.
Nebula Knight is a generative design system rather than a single artwork. Its knight's-tour language can be adapted for fashion, textile development and other surface-oriented contexts — while maintaining a computational origin.
Each surface is drawn from the same numeric seed — reproducible, licensable, adaptable to your brief.
