Draconic Fractals — Catalogue Computational Textile Design
A study in generative recursion

DraconicFractals

A tiled dragon curve — recursive, self-similar, algorithmically drawn, seed-documented, ready for textile production.

For fashion houses, textile studios and surface designers. Each composition is generated from a single numeric seed and can be licensed, adapted or commissioned to your brief.

A curve, when it is folded onto itself, becomes a dragon — recursive, self-similar, quietly yours.

I am an Iranian-born artist working at the intersection of classical ornament and generative systems. My work begins with a simple observation: the recursive curve — folded, re-folded, endlessly self-similar — has always carried the mark of a living system. From the spiral of a seashell to the branching of a river delta, natural forms build themselves by repeating a simple rule.

Draconic Fractals is a seed-based generative system that translates that rule into code. Each composition is built from a grid of tiles, each one containing a dragon curve — a famous fractal generated by repeatedly folding a line at right angles. Alternating tiles are rotated by 90°, and every tile is coloured from a small hue palette, producing a dense, tessellated field.

The recursion order, the tile skip pattern, and the palette are all derived from a single numeric seed. Each piece can be regenerated, documented, and adapted for textile, print, and surface applications — from scarves and yardage to wallpaper and archival print.

On AI tools — where I encountered technical obstacles, I turned to AI tools for debugging and code optimization. Every structural, aesthetic, and conceptual decision remained my own.

One composition.
Many surfaces.

The same seed, presented as an archival print — and applied across fabric, scarf, textile and wall surfaces without loss of structure.

Applied across surfaces.

Every surface below is drawn from the same numeric seed — its repeat, orientation and scale adapted to the material, while the underlying structural logic remains identical.

01 / Seed

Variation

A numeric seed initializes the recursion order, the tile skip pattern, and the hue palette. Each composition is regenerated and documented as a distinct, traceable output.

02 / Fold

Geometry

A dragon curve — a fractal generated by repeatedly folding a line at right angles. Alternating tiles are rotated by 90°, producing a tessellated field of self-similar shapes.

03 / Surface

Application

The resulting composition becomes a surface-design asset — explored across garments, textile prints, wallpaper and other pattern-driven applications.

One system.
Many surfaces.

Draconic Fractals is a generative design system rather than a single artwork. Its recursively-folded visual language can be adapted for fashion, textile development and other surface-oriented contexts — while maintaining a computational origin.
